Hosting

Post by Blacklight12 » Wed Dec 20, 2023 10:14 pm

Hello, how to choose the optimal server for hosting, given the variety of services and providers? What are the key factors to consider when choosing a server to ensure the stability and performance of a web project?

Not in any order:
Amount of webspace
Free email addresses
Number of databases and what version
Php versions
Reputation of updating software
Reputation of security
Bandwidth
Price

Depending on your needs, perhaps shopping carts.

If your question is about Joomla specifically, consider its system requirements and that will also help you choose a web host, combined with all the things listed above (databases and version, PHP and version are the most pertinent points to consider for Joomla, along with what it lists here:
https://manual.joomla.org/docs/next/get ... uirements/)

If your question is just general in nature, then same answer, consider the minimum system requirements of the application.

Also, it helps speed/page loading times if the server is physically located in the same country as where you might expect most of your site's traffic to come from.

that's true. However my hosting with Scala is I think located in Texas USA, the SG hosting was originally their Singapore data centre, but then changed to Sydney, NSW.

Search for Joomla Hosting and take note of any hosting services that specifically support Joomla or are Joomla specialists. Just offering one-click installation is not enough. Look at the Administration interface offered - I favour cPanel but I guess Plesk is OK too. Some hosting services seem to offer less well-known software.
