What makes Joomla more secure?

Post by shanibaba » Wed Jan 31, 2024 5:20 pm

I've faced security issues with my WordPress car rental website, hacked twice by phishers. Now, I'm considering Joomla for better security. What makes Joomla more secure, and how does it compare in terms of vulnerabilities to WordPress?

The WordPress core itself has no known security problems. The security problems with WordPress are mainly due to 3rd party plugins that are installed. With WordPress you have to install a lot of third-party plugins to get a functional website. And not all third-party plugins are made with security in mind.

Joomla already has a lot of functionality built into the core: fully configurable User Management and ACL (Access Control List), Multilingual Support, Custom Fields, Menu Management, Built-in Caching, Built-in SEO Features (like meta description).

So with Joomla you'll need less 3rd party extensions which makes it easier to maintain and less chances on security issues.

Other benefits of Joomla are that its PHP codebase is designed using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles. And its database is better designed and optimized for large websites.

Keep in mind that with both CMS systems, you need to keep all software up-to-date and make regular backups.

Hmm, yes, I've encountered plugin issues as well. Considering migrating from WordPress to Joomla, I'm concerned about the potential impact on my website's ranking and layout. Could you also provide insight into whether I can replicate the exact design on Joomla? Here's my website for reference: [ redacted ]

Moreover, I'm unsure if I should hire a developer for the migration and design in Joomla or if it's feasible for me to handle it myself. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.
