I have no idea where to post this so I am posting it here.  If a mod wants to move it, thats fine. I just need some info.  Has anyone else tried to use JSAS in Windows Vista.  I have not been successful.  Is anyone here aware of an issue with JSAS in Vista?  Thanks.
Jason

Is there some compatibility mode you can use? Or you could just use: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html and then install Joomla yourself.

Unless I'm mistaken (and I usually am) JSAS only goes up to Joomla 1.0.10.

It must have recently been updated (within the last few months).  Good thing to know. Guess I'll have to upgrade my version now. WOOHOO!

Has anyone else here tried JSAS in Vista?  I have tried XAMPP, but it was a bit too technical for me.  JSAS is very attractive to me because the setup is so simple.

JSAS works fine on Vista. You must run the JSAS.exe in compatibility mode with XP and as administrator and everything, almost everything works fine. Almost because JSAS can't create the "W" drive with http_root directory.

I am working with JSAS 1.10.2 on Windows Vista Home Premium and it works reasonably well.
You better not install JSAS in C:\program files because of the tighther security checks that cause
JSAS to malfunction. When you install JSAS in C:\JSAS or another name for the directory it
will be very likely that you can run JSAS without problems. During installation I got 2 times a
blue screen of death caused by storage violations. Windows recovered from these problems
without any consequences.

When you install in C:\program files JSAS keeps on expanding the software each time you startup
JSAS. Further it won't install a new site for you. Of course there are work around for these
problems but the easy way out is the one I desrcibed here above.

I advise you also to copy all the directories from the newest version of Joomla (1.0.12) to
......\http_root\www\my website\.......
BUT only the directories when you copy also the files from the main directory your
testsite won't function any more. The configuration.php and other files must

Good luck,

In XP, I could uninstall JSAS and reinstall to start fresh. In Vista, it does not seem to reinstall a fresh Joomla site, it keeps the junk on my virtual drive that I am trying to dlete.

edit: ah-ha, install to C:\JSAS worked!  thanks!
