Seeking active Joomla sites / on Bluehost or Servage servers

Post by JohanLM » Fri Jun 06, 2008 11:19 am

Hello all,
Took this room since it's maybe the most fitting section for this section.
I need a cheap server with a HUGH space. Both www.bluehost.com and www.servage.com offer this, but on both I heard good and bad things. What I have not found is actuall active websites that is up on running on them both so I can check out loading time etc.
So does anyone of "you" use either one or both for Joomla and maybe even other scripts?

If you do, I would greatly appreciate a link/s to see how it handles?
Also if you feel like it, please share some of your thoughts of how you think it's handled.
In Sweden myself, and most of my friends / communities are located around or near Scandiniavia, hence why I'm curious about the loading time.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Johan. :)

Here's two sites hosted on servage, let me know if you want to see some others :

http://www.fusionbrewing.com.au/
http://xsitech.com/

Although I read some bad things about servage before using them, stuff like their daily bandwidth and cpu usage limits , overselling and files mysteriously disappearing etc , I haven't had any really bad experiences that would make me want to leave. A good host for low/medium traffic sites. Their custom admin control panel is a lot different to something like cpanel, but has most of the features you need to get things done.

Support is always fast to respond to my tickets and my site often loads when I go to visit it. :p

I had a site with Servage last year, nothing wrong to say about them, support and service was good. However, one time i lost half of my Joomla installation, but none could tell me why it happened. I had a backup so it was no problems in this case, but still annoying..

Thank you very much for your replies.
Servage seems very fast for my needs, but the missing files bit are a little scary to hear about. I am no codewizard so it seems like a risk. Allthough ... They might have 1000nds of custommers and there can be just some unlucky few. Bad things happens sometimes. :-\
