Hi Scott,

  Let me know if we can help too...
Thanks for the banners, kind words, and Shayne, thanks for the link and news item (even if the link was wrong) :-)

Peter,

  Is there a way that we can pull a list of ALL names or info that has been added to the list and let me do some things with it?

  I would like to use some of the data to print out and post on Physical Bulletin Boards in the shelters...

Thanks again for all help,

Jay Dearman

Esp, thank you

I can add a print button ("printer friendly view"). Do you have a special layout in mind, or shall I just output the same information as in the search result list (maybe with correct linebreaks in the textarea-inputs)?

Could we get it to list all names/families on a single page (even if it is very long)...we wont have to give Public acess yet, I can perhaps format a wrapper page with some html if I need to...

Thanks again Peter, you're a fine fellow, regardless of how they treat you on this forum (Joke :-) , i needed that)

Ok, I'll go for it.

No need to add wrappers, it the printer friendly view will pop up in a separate window and use all available space, one single list without pagings (paging will be done by the browsers print function only).

There is also a Missing message board that has been running at http://www.nola.com/forums/searching/ I seen it in a news story yesterday so it's pretty busy.

Perhaps you can link to them as well.

I would like to help by creating the following.

1. A Joomla/$ambo Module to search the missing persons database.

2. A SOAP based Web Service interface to the Database that will run at http://209.59.182.41/ or http://www.disastersearch.org/

3. A Joomla/$ambo Component that is a SOAP Client to query the database.

I what also like to see the following but my plate would be full with the above.

A WAP/WML interface to access the database via cellphone.  I feel this could be very useful since cell phones are working in most areas.  The system should be very simple, First, Lastname search and a way for people to report they are OK.

If anybody has experince with WAP/WML and would like to help out please chime in.  If you know PHP but not WAP/WML the following class will help tremendously. I've used it before in a project and works great.

HawHaw also supports Voice XML so the same application could be ran on an IVR Server.  This would allow a voice menu system to access the database.

JayDee: The print function for the persons search results is now working.

However firefox has an issue when printing large tables, so you should use internet explorer to print out the lists.

I will check if I can create a import program for the lists you extracted.

(1) There is allready a search function for the missing persons database. If it needs improvement, please let me know.

So you should go for (2) and (3).

I am talking about a Mambo Module that other Mambo Sites can install and provide a search form on their website that links back to the main db site.

That would indeed be helpful.

We will need very powerful server hardware and fast links once this is running.

I think it would be great for someone to approach ev1servers.net, they are based in Houston.

**** VOLUNTEER CALL ****

The domain name is not yet working correct, I guess it needs some settings in the server.

I have the admin backend password, and the user id and passwords for cpanel and ftp here,
but for one side I'm no professional admin, and for the other I would like to keep my back free
for development.

Any experienced takers for the server admin job?

(We might need several admins, since this must run absolutely 24/7 !!)

Hi Folks,

1.  I'll get ev1 on board and make those calls.

2.  For the moment, I'd like to request that everyone hold off on posting anything new to the site.  Long story short, I need to move the files and database over to disastersearch.org, and configure it for you.  That will take as long as it takes to copy the files local, and then back up.  Shouldn't take long. My apologies to all.

3.  Admin info for the site will stay the same, but cpanel/ftp login will change, I will send out info to Peter for distribution to those that have requested it.

4.  Once that has been accomplished, I am going to dive into the medical records which will be a key part of this application.  I may ask for help if needed.

Let me know if you have any questions..

Scott

I can access it, it's up from here.  I'm copying the files over now.  I'll email the info to you for cpanel login, and you can get the latest db you requested after I restore it..

Thanks Jon

Search Module is almost done but having at little problem directly posting to fascmileforms component.  Here is the code output of the module but when submitted only shows the form not search results.

Code: Select all

<form action="http://209.59.182.41/index.php" method="post">

<div align="left" class="search">
First Name<br><input alt="search" class="inputbox" type="text" name="ff_nm_firstname[]" size="First Name" value=""/><br>
Last Name<br><input alt="search" class="inputbox" type="text" name="ff_nm_lastname[]" size="20" value="" /><br>
City or Zipcode<br><input alt="search" class="inputbox" type="text" name="ff_nm_city[]" size="20" value="" /><br>
<center><input type="submit" name="ff_nm_search" value="Search" class="button"/><br>
<a href="http://209.59.182.41/index.php?option=com_facileforms&Itemid=28">Add a name</a></center>

<input type="hidden" name="option" value="com_facileforms"/>
<input type="hidden" name="Itemid" value="27"/>
<input type="hidden" name="ff_form" value="45"/>
<input type="hidden" name="ff_page" value="1"/>
<input type="hidden" name="ff_task" value="submit"/>
</div>

The domian seems to be resolving for me ok.  If you have visited the domain today before the dns change you may need to flush dns 'ipconfig /flushdns' from the cmd prompt on your PC.  Everyone please try accessing the site via domain name and report back if it is not resolving and showing the website.

Ok, it's coming up now, but looks like my permissions are not correct, as it is not reading the .css file.  I'm working on it now.  The other error was caused by a incomplete database install.
