I've tried a few alternatives also, non as good as Adsense. Other publishers are only viable if you have really high hits per day, I'm talking about ten of thousands a day. On the other hand, Adsense also works on small blogs and you can do really good if your blog gets relevant or high paying keywords.

I'd have a bit of success with Yahoo. Realistically though, unless you've been banned from Adsense there isn't any real reason to change. They are pretty much the only game in town.

There is no need to get any alternatives unless your banned from adsense or something like that. I tried bidvertiser, but it didn't work too well with it...

That is true. The only single reason why you would be even considering using an alternative to adsense is when you're banned. Just follow the rules and don't try to exploit the platform. You'll be safe.

Nah. I think after 100 years, Google would have widen up their advantage. Adsense would still be the best solution.

Adsense is better than anything else.. Yes, from the posts above, use only alternative when you are banned. If not, stick to it.

Not really true though is it "Anything else isn't worth it." as you say clearly isn't true theres many reasons people want to ditch Adsense. For example PSA ads which is the reason i went to adbrite, say you have comments enabled any time you have a word that disagrees with adsense bots they will serve PSA's now i've noticed over time that 85% of my content is PSA's (so should i stick with adsense) so i'm getting views but were being discounted by adsense, so they made me furious enough to say bye, bye and move to Adbrite.

Seriously look at some of the many words you are not allowed to use, bloody ridiculous. How are you suppose to run comments and dynamic material with that as a hurdle. >:(

AdSense and AdBrite are the top producing publisher networks. However, to have a true monetized site (making money off of a blog or community, etc) you should additionally consider affiliate opportunities. Amazon has this and many many other on line retailers offer it as well. If the products they are peddling is relevant to your site then the visitors to your site will more likely be interested in clicking on the ad. Additionally, if the site sends out a newsletter you can quickly promote these affiliate products.

While AdSense is probably one of the best money making machines if you have quality content and a lot of traffic, there are lots of other AdSense alternatives out there. Some of them are only suitable for sites with 100,000+ monthly page impressions and more, others can be used by sites with low traffic. The key to understand is that when you are looking for an AdSense alternative, you should try several solutions, one at a time and seeing what works the best. No general advice can tell you the best solution for you. The best results are achieved through a trial-and-error method.

I used AdBrite with a site that had 5000 visitors a day and made about $450 a month.

What is the best way to utilize AdBrite or YPN in joomla 1.7? I have been banned from Adsense. I clicked 3 or 4 times over the course of a week to make sure it was working. Admitted the error, appealed, was still denied. You have no other recourse to plead your case after the 1 appeal. So I need some alternatives...

@Overstock

what do you mean? I simply embedd the ads on my site with the common Joomla html module, if that's what you're wondering. I never used a component.
