Convince me I need Joomla for my construction site

Post by thomasj11 » Thu Apr 23, 2015 9:31 pm

Hi,

I know the title might not be completely fair. I've been looking at using Joomla.

I'm currently using Wordpress for my construction site

Code: Select all

http://contractorquotes.us
but I'm looking to change to a platform that offers more flexibility in terms of the site structure and I read that Drupal is good if you're good at coding (which I'm not), while Joomla is somewhere between Wordpress and Joomla in terms of ease of use.

I have some very important features I need implemented, though, but I was hoping you guys might be able to tell me how easy/tough this will be. Remember, I'm a Wordpress guy that can't code.

First of all, I need a silo structure on the site with the posts. So each post links back to the parent pages.

I also need to be able to implement calculators. Eg when someone needs a roof installed, it should be able to tell them how much (roughly) the installation will cost.

Lastly, I want to have separate menus for the different categories.

How tough will these things be to implement?

Menus are a piece of cake, along with having various layouts/themes for different section
of a site.

I suggest you search the extensions for your specific requirements
http://extensions.joomla.org/

For example, here is link to calculator plugin
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... rfilters=1
