I installed joomfish and also the spanish language .

I've kept English as the language for the Administrator back end language
but I have enabled Spanish as the default site language, so that the joomla site is to be in Spanish only. However that is not the case. The front page is still in English.

What could I be doing wrong??
Any ideas??

Thanks!!
.

joomfish does not translate your content, you must do that...joomfish helps you manage your content translations

and note that joomfish free version will not support translation management of menu's you must purchase their plugin

thanks for the reply.
I want to change the joomla core content, not the non-core content.
I already installed the two spanish language files, for admin and front end., and then configured the default language to be spanish in language manager, but it still comes up in English.

any ideas what i am doing wrong?
thanks!

joomla core xlate packs will xlate things in joomla core and supported extensions.

i.e. logon/logoff will when using jooomla core in fact use the lang pack you specify...

what exactly is it 'not' xlating that you think it should?

thanks again.

For example, in every post I write, it says, "written by MyName"
When it should say it in Spanish "escrito por MyName"
The dates are also in English and they should be in Spanish.

The contact form is in english and it should be in Spanish.

I have installed both files for the site and admin.
I have set the site and admin language to default in spanish.
I also set the site language to Spanish in the User Manager.

I have logged out and rebooted and even tried it in a different browser where there was no
cache. I still get the site in English not Spanish.

thanks for the help.
I can't post a link because site is not finished

go here: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... for-joomla

and download the joomla language packs for Spanish, back end and front end. I don't think Joomfish will do what you are wanting...which might be a good thing...

then in the joomla language manner or by userid...set the default language you want...

I already downloade those files and installed them.
es-ES_joomla_lang_admin_1.5.15v1.zip
es-ES_Joomla_lang_site.1.5.15v1.zip

then in Language Manager, I've set the default site language to Español,
by putting the yellow star next to it.
I´m still getting the English language on the front end of my page,,
on the interface.

What do people who live in spanish speaking countries do to get their core jooma sites in Spanish??
thanks!!

honestly...that is exactly how I do it and it works...

make sure that the userid you are logging in with had spanish set in their profile...it overrides you site settings

Hi tere12,

Most likely this is related to the fact that you did install joomfish too, even if you might not have needed it.

There is a setting in the joomfish plugin jfrouter that decides which of 3 choises it will return 1. site default language, 2. joomfish first language or 3. user browser language. Having the "wrong" setting in that plugin means if you visit with a browser having english default, then english will be the language presented even if spanish is site default in joomla.

Hi,

ok, I have the same problem.

I have only a plugin "system Jfrouter", I'm not sure if it's the "joomfish plugin jfrouter", can you confirme that please ?

In my plugin "system Jfrouter", I have
Language selection for new visitors? and the answer was "browser settings" :).
I change to site default language, but when I tested, the website appears in my browser settings, maybe it's not the real parameter ??

Thanks.

Go to the db table jos_languages_bak (if using prefix jos) and change the active language that you want to 1, and the others to 0.
