Write a document explaining how to use core Joomla! functions for a simple
photo gallery or portfolio.
Description

For this task you will help beginning users move beyond the basics to take
advantage of the flexibility of Joomla!.

Users often wish to display photos, artwork or other images on their sites.
The Joomla! content component combined with the media manager can be used
to create a simple display of these works. An example of this can be seen
at http://shop.joomla.org/.

Create a one to two page document that describes the steps for doing this
in Joomla! 1.5.
Skills Needed

    * Familiarity with Joomla!
    * Good writing skills
    * Good page layout skills

I think the main document format that should be used is .odt using OpenOffice, since it's the easiest to edit across multiple platforms.

Your document is entitled Creating an Image Gallery in Joomla! 1.5, but you are not using Joomla! v 1.5. Instead, you are using the older Joomla! v 1.0.x version. Please look at the Help button, above, and follow the links to the installation guide that Humvee put together. It will help you install the newest release. The guide must be about the Joomla! v 1.5 version.

I think this needs work. If you look at the description, above, you see referenced the shop.joomla.org example as one where a gallery was created.

What might be very helpful is to find some freely available images that you can have others go download. Tell them to download these six pictures (or whatever) from this location. (You could even use the shop.joomla.org ones if you want to demonstrate how to build that gallery.)

Then, your document should show each step needed to create a good looking gallery. More step by step instructions with pictures, resulting in a final picture of a gallery.

Also, why not use the Image button to select images? Seems like that would be easier than copying and pasting URLs from the media manager. Or, maybe I am missing something.

A little more detail, I think, and remember how useful this will be, so be encouraged, not discouraged.

I made a few changes; here are my revisions. I got rid of the last big picture since it didn't add a lot. And, with it gone, this is a nice, compact 1-pager (which is helpful) Please review, make changes desired and go ahead and post at Google Code when you are done. Also, post here, too, so that we know you are ready for a last review and we will try to conclude this task ASAP.

Thank you Amy - I now see the "tone" the task wanted. I've posted it to the Google Code site - the only change I made was to reposition the last image so that it did not obscure the footer.
