127 - Create a Joomla! v 1.5 Content Plugin to embed Scribd Documents

I tried it in Joomla 1.5.0 using just the code snippet offered by scribd to paste it into the HTML editor as well as in the WYSIWYG editor. Within the HTML editor I can push the [Save] Button but it isn't saving at all... The WYSIWYG editor saves the stuff but on calling the page in the browser I get a failure message.

So let me ask you how do you get it done. You just create a new content element in a category of your choice - switch to the HTML mode in the editor and paste the code snippet of scribd there. Is this about right?

Thats the way I do it and I can't save then this content element...

So is it me or just the system (I guess it's me )

Ok, I missed the point that you check for "Include document's text in embed code"...

I just signed up on Scribd today and can confirm that in my embed code, there is no GUID.. Will this useful plugin be updated to be able to embed Scribd docs?

Until the plugin is updated, you won't be able to use it to embed scribd objects because they changed the way it works..I'm also waiting for an update..

I have same problem. It seems Scribd removed the guid. Please can Sander Kromwijk update the plugin...

Or has someone tried any other method. I want to embed the file in the article section of my site and not put a link to go to Scribd for the file.

Here's a modified version of Mr Sander's scribd plugin.

Please go to www.sourcetogo.com and look for:
a. Embedding a Scribd Document in Joomla - XML
b. Embedding a Scribd Document in Joomla - PHP

Save these source codes as .xml and .php, respectively, and use these files to replace the xml and php scripts in Mr Sander's plugin.

Instead of using the guid and placing it in between {scribd} and {/scribd}, look for the document id and access key from the embed code.

The document id and access key looks like this:
http://d.scribd.com/ScribdViewer.swf?[b ... 22tcucrege[/b]&page=1&version=1&viewMode

To embed the Scribd document in your Joomla article, just code:
{scribd}document_id=2627068&access_key=key-207rwel67022tcucrege{/scribd}
