Hi,
Thanks for your offer Amy. If everything goes to plan, I should have bought some new hosting tonight, and I will move the site across and probably put it in a subdomain for the time being.
Should I upload the video to Google Code?
Cheers,
James

Hi,
Video is now uploaded to Google Code.
I have bought new hosting from SiteGround (they are really good ) an my new domain is http://anorien.net/ and I shall move the PCEA site to there shortly while development/checking etc takes place by the church webmaster.
It may take a little while cause I have to organie/clean my room because I am have friends over this evening and tomorrow I will be at the Joomla! Conference in Melbourne, but hopefully I can find some time to move the Joomla! installation to the new server.
Cheers,
James

Re: 150 - Create a new Joomla! v 1.5 website for a not-for-profit organization
Hi everyone!
Just back from Joomla! Day and it was a blast. Was able to meet people from aroung who used Joomla! which was great.
Linux Expo was rather cool and now I have loads of Live CD's which is nice :P
I said hi to Leslie for you Elin. She highly of you in her GHOP/Summer of Code presentation!
Back to the threads initial topic...
The PCEA site has moved to pcea.anorien.net while development continues.
Also....
Anyway, I am not sure how closing this task will work because the site won't be going live for a while yet but I have done as much as I can for the time being and the site will be eventually finished. Once it goes completely live I could send someone (Amy or Elin possibly?) an email to let you know.
Cheers,
James
P.S. The video is on Google Code.

This same question came up today, and Legacy mode supposedly deals a rather substantial hit to performance, and has a much larger memory footprint on the server as it is essentially running an instance of Joomla 1.0.x and 1.5. (I think it was Sam Moffatt who said this)I don't think you will have to worry about the impactof any performance hit from using legacy

Re: 150 - Create a new Joomla! v 1.5 website for a not-for-profit organization
What we're doing with the sites is adding a comment to the task at google code with the link (before and after is great if you can). Actually since the site will be moving again and who knows when someone might want to look at your work, you could note this and also put the link where it will go eventually. We are usually having people upload the documentaton, but in your case since it is a video also add a link. If you would write a paragraph or two summarizing what you did that would be great.
Let's close this .

Re: 150 - Create a new Joomla! v 1.5 website for a not-for-profit organization
Hi,
I have the video uploaded on the Google Code site. I have linked to the current site location and to where it will eventually reside. I also wrote a paragraph as requested. If you were after something different in the paragraph, let me know and I can write some more.
I will try to get my minister (and also webmaster) to write some of his thoughts down today and I can probably put together a document as well as the video.
Cheers,
James

Great! I'll just leave it open for now in case you want to add the anything more, and will close it tomorrow night before the deadline one way or another.

Re: 150 - Create a new Joomla! v 1.5 website for a not-for-profit organization
Hi,
Thanks for that Elin! I managed to get some words out of the minister and quickly whip up a PDF containing his thoughts and my "implementation notes" or whatever you want to call them :P
I cannot upload the file to Google Code as the quota has been exceeded. So it is attached below.
Cheers,
James
P.S. I think we can close the topic now.

Hi Ramsay, You made a cool website. Just a comment. are you thinking of SEO. If I were you I would change the site description and keywords from joomla..... The primary aim of the site is to serve the client not promote joomla if am not wrong.
There is no patch for stupidity
Code: Select all
Set x = stupid, Y=< ?
