Hi folks

I have posted this question on the old mambo forum, but I think it's better to add it here again.
I'm using mambelfish with other 12 languages (most of them use western encoding ISO-8859-1).
I can see now here, on forum, that we still have ISO-8859-1 and it's working perfect.

My question is how to manage these languages with mambo, because if I use the existing greek translations the text become messed and, if I try to force the encoding on template, it won't works.

Anyone has used mambelfish with greek and other languages? How to manage it?

Hi Igor!
I use just 3 languages in my project, one of which is Greek.
Thanks to the manual provided by the Greek Translation Team, I had no problem whatsoever.
So here's a probable way out to your question:

1. Use this ISO for Greek: 8859-7
2. (and maybe most important:) use a different ISO code for each language you include - otherwise most of the languages you use will get scrambled. I don't know if this is caused by Greek itself, but it solved my problem!

Where can I download the manual from Greek Translation Team?
Most of the languages we are using works fine with 8859-1.
Even this forum uses 8859-1.
Can you send me the URL of your project, just to check it out?

The tutorial for mambelfish using is published at the Greek community site ( http://www.mambo.gr - it has to be renamed next days ) here: http://www.mambo.gr/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=70

You have to register in order to get it. I do not think it is a problem.

But, unfortunately, the tutorial is written only in Greek.

If you can wait for 1 hour (!!) I'll have it ready for you - mind you, it's the manual about installing Mambelfish in a way, where Greek works .

Unfortunately I cannot give you any URL, since this is the project of someone big in Greece...
I'll probably make a test-site and let you know.
Now, here is the translation of the Greek Translation Team's manual:

Step 0 (necessary for every committed change): create backups of your content files.

Step 1 – Files
Visit mamboforge and download the necessary files. These consist of a component (Mambelfish_1.5.zip), a module (mbf_module.zip) and a mambot (mbf_searchbot.zip).

Step 2 - Installation
Install the downloaded files in the following order:
a. module (customize and publish it)
b. component (commit the necessary customization). We have tried this installation with 2 languages, not more [my note: I communicated to the Greek Forum my experience with a third language]
c. mambot (publish it). This one is useful for the multilingual search capability.

Step 3 – Patch files
Following the component installation, please locate the directory components / com_mambelfish / patch; choose your version of mambo and copy these files to the appropriate location on your server, overwriting the ones already existing.

Step 4 – Setting parameters
a. Through the module, you define the appearance order of every language, as well as some more features about the language appearance.
b. Through the component you define the languages for your site, the text which should appear when there is no translation for this language, as well as features about the language appearance.

Step 5 - Translation
In 2 words, the pain’s taking job: Through the menu components > mambelfish > translation, plase select the items you wish to translate and publish the new texts.

In our trials we were not able to use TMEdit, and used MosCE instead, which was a success.
