SEO: Page Title and Site Name
Short description
Joomla currently arranges the page title as site name first and article name second.
An option to toggle this option would be good, even the option to not display site name at all or use the Title Alias.
Expected benefits/ Problem solved
Already plugins available and a simple hack to the source code to fix this, but this should be in the core. Expected benefits... much more effective page titles with regards to SEO.

Yes, this feature is deeply sought after. Can it be integrated into core?

Re: SEO: Page Title and Site Name
I second, third, fourth and fifth this motion.
This would be most beneficial for SEO. I'm beginning to wonder if Google is stopping before the hyphen in page titles recently.ange.
Can anyone post a link to a good extension that does this? I don't want to change anything else. I don't want SEF URLs at this point. Just that one change would be great for me now. I don't know where or how to do that myself in the Joomla core, otherwise I'd take care of it myself.
Thanks for posting this.

Re: SEO: Page Title and Site Name
Argh. Only compatible with 1.5. I can't make the move until iJoomla updates the Magazine and Archive components.
Thanks.
On the side, over 5000 posts, Amy?

Actually, the white papers are all related to v 1.5, so, I assumed when you indicated you wanted an extension like the white paper called for, you meant for 1.5. v 1.0.x is not being developed, just maintained.
When you are ready, check into "Zine" - it's a native v 1.5 extension by Andrew Eddie.
HTH,
Amy

Re: SEO: Page Title and Site Name
Sorry. My mistake. Need to be careful negotiating the forums.
I'm unable to find "Zine" anywhere. Does anyone have a URL?
I know my friends at iJoomla are working on the 1.5 update. This level of coding is beyond me at this point.

'Zine', eh?
Hmmmm... Andrew, of course, peaks interest instantly. I'll keep my ear to the ground on this one for sure... Thanks for the heads up, Amy.

Re: SEO: Page Title and Site Name
For a stellar implementation of the SEO page title & site name fix (and a whole bunch of other SEO fixes as well) take a look at joomlatwork's Joomla 1.5 SEF Patch.
Here's a link: http://www.joomlatwork.com/products/fre ... .5rc4.html (has patches for 1.5rc4 to 1.5.2 currently)

Re: SEO: Page Title and Site Name
Thanks a lot for this... At first glance it certainly seems to offer more options than the pluings I've been experimenting with.
Any word on whether or not 1.6 will adopt any of these SEO recommendations?

Re: SEO: Page Title and Site Name
I believe even the latest release Joomla 1.5.8 does not implement the "Sitename" - "Article Name" feature. I think was an omission.
I found a simple hack which seems to be working.

juan I think that this has been long resolved. I really am appreciative that Joomla continues to adapt to SEO needs. The best CMS hands down...

Re: SEO: Page Title and Site Name
@ joomlord
This joomlatwork's Joomla 1.5 SEF Patch is a very good SEF patch. However, there is one problem only: Whenever one updates Joomla, he/she should update this patch as well merging files etc. It's a time-consuming task. I just wonder why Joomla Dev Team doesn't add these changes (the patch) to the core script.
Do you know any good mod or extension that can achieve the same result?
@ juanparati and all
Will SEO / SEF tricks found here http://docs.joomla.org/SEO be included into Joomla 1.6?
They are also talking about changing the default article SEF suffix from .html to .htm. Does it make any difference nowadays? (SEO perspective)
