Need site multilanguage full support in Joomla core
Hi,
That would be a big thing.
Multilanguage support is the biggest problem in Joomla 1.5.x
I can't find any useful extension to make my site more than 1 language.
I think it must be integrated in Joomla core.

Hi, Laimys!
It's not true Though Joom!Fish is delaying, you can give a try to M17n. It's a simple but usable solution. Please search for it at JED.

Hi there,
To me it would be just great if you can attach a language to a menu item. Same idea as the template attached to a menu item that already is implemented.

Re: Need site multilanguage full support in Joomla core
As mentioned in http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=500&t=271076 I will move this topic to the denied area because this discussion is not about an actual white paper. Feel free to continue discussing this topic there, we will not take this post into account when reviewing the white papers.
Like Localizer says, Joomfish has a delay but a release is expected (rumor says maybe end April). Beside that there will be other solutions that add multi-lingual support to Joomla! 1.5, it only will take some time until these extensions appear.

Some necessary plugins of Joomfish are available only for silver members, the only free extension is not enough for having a site translated in more languages without problems of duplicated contents, see:
http://www.joomfish.net/forum/viewtopic ... gin#p20716
http://www.joomfish.net/forum/viewtopic ... gin#p21152
A core extension for multilanguage is a necessary feature for Joomla to be a complete CMS. Multilanguage is one of the most requested feature and cannot depends from external extensions not totally free, it's too much important and this is penalizing for Joomla.

Will it be solved in Joom!Fish 2.1 ? If not what you suggest to do, and who will do this?

Hi Stasys, the issue is solved also in Joom!Fish 2.0.3 by one or two plugins, but they are only available for silver members, subscription that costs 71,40 € for 6 monthsStasys wrote:Will it be solved in Joom!Fish 2.1 ? If not what you suggest to do, and who will do this?

Re: Need site multilanguage full support in Joomla core
Any other good solution beside the Paid JoomFish yet?
The Multilanguage issue is really drawing Joomla back. Joomla Dev Team should consider adding it as core feature. A multilanguage feature should be a MUST for a complete CMS.

Re: Need site multilanguage full support in Joomla core
Just to clarify a bit about Joom!Fish:
The Joom!Fish core component is free as in free beer and freedom. It enables you to translate everything on your website in other languages. So to have a true multilingual website Joom!Fish is a good extension.
The addons linked to in this topics only hide untranslated content or untranslated menus. This is an easy way to hide such things, but it isn't necessary for a multilingual website. Furthermore, if you translate every item on your website you don't have any use for those addons.
In the Joom!Fish documentation you can also read how to hide untranslated content when using the core component only: http://www.joomfish.net/en/documentatio ... e-joomfish
I hope I succeeded in clarifying.
By the way, if you're having completely different websites in different languages then the easiest solution is to have multiple installs in subdomains.

Re: Need site multilanguage full support in Joomla core
Hi Carolien,
Happy to see you are a Joom!Fish Core Team member. We definitely needed someone from Joom!Fish to clarify things for us.
Thanks very much for the info.
There is another reply from infograf768 that also helps:
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p ... 4#p1957434
Can you just confirm whether Joom!Fish allows visitor to change the language on the fly from the frontend?
Thanks!

Hi joomfriend, joomfriend wrote:Can you just confirm whether Joom!Fish allows visitor to change the language on the fly from the frontend?

I am not from the JoomFish or Joomla Core team, but I am working on several multi-language websites.
Of course JoomFish allows visitors to change the language on the fly. The default JoomFish installation sets a module "mod_jflanguageselection" in a default position, so the languages' flags appear on the top, and you just have to click on the one you want. Do not forget to install at least a second language pack in Joomla, and to set your default language. But it is still very easy to handle. And because a/several languages is/are another dimension added to a website, I highly recommend to read the basics on how JoomFish works. This half an hour will save you a lot of time and help on how to manage the localised version of your website (content, menu, banner, footer, etc...)
or to watch the video tutorials
http://www.joomfish.net/en/documentation/tutorials
Also, the link provided by Carolien is worth reading: how to make the most of JoomFish without the paid plugins. Fair play from the JoomFish Team ;-) Thanks guys!
