Hi guys,

I installed Joomla on a subdirectory under my main site www.xxx.com/version4 where everything worked fine & dandy. So I did an Akeeba backup and fired up kickstart to extract it all to my root.

So far so good, the site works, everything looks ok, except some of my menus look bunched up. So I log in to the back end and go to Menu Item Manager and when I click on the menu item, I get 500 Internal Site Error.

The strange thing is I can access all other areas of the backend, like articles, modules, plug-ins and can view menu item manager but the moment I click on individual menu link, I get 500 Internal Server Error. :'(

I am running Joomla 1.5.18 at the moment. I am thinking it could be a permissions issue but as this is on a Windows server with DotNetPanel in the back end, which I have already enabled read, write permissions for all folders. The thing is I was working on a subfolder before this and in the subfolder there was no error. I really don't know what is going on...

I also tried to replace the administrator folder with an exact working copy from another joomla installation but to no avail.

Any ideas??

Hello,

The problem seems to be with .htaccess , did you copy the .htaccess to main root folder ?

Hi there,

I did change the .htaccess file. So far all the links work fine except for the menu item manager. I have also replaced the administrator folder with a working copy of another joomla site.

The strange thing is everything works really okay when it's in the subdirectory but not in the main directory.

Maybe I should just delete the root folder files and redo the akeeba kickstart in the root but I have a sickening feeling the same error will appear. sigh :'(
