sslhttps doesn't work on IIS5 with multiple certificates?

Post by llau39 » Fri Aug 13, 2010 12:48 am

Hello,

I've purchased a valid certificate from GoDaddy and have installed it on one of our websites using IIS5, we are also hosting another website#2 on the same IIS server which has another GoDaddy certificate.

What is weird is that initially, when forcing the new site to go ssl, then we typed in https://www.newsite.com/ it would prompt us to accept the certificate for the other site (website#2). It seems that there are issues with enabling certs for multiple sites on IIS5, but there might be a workaround, perhaps? So we changed the ipaddress within IIS for the newsite.com so that it would be different from the other one. But now when I try to go to https://www.newsite.com/administrator it takes me to website#2's backend administrator. Using the previous url without the https, http://newsite.com/administrator works. Currently the configuration parameters: force_ssl and live_site are both empty.

I've tried setting the force_ssl parameter in the configuration.php file to 0 according to this forum post here: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=1852711 but to no avail.

We would really appreciate any input on this painful issue, maybe someone else has successfully created multiple ssl sites on IIS5 before? or Maybe this is a Joomla issue? Please tell me that someone has figured out how to make this work and the necessary steps to make it work:)

Thanks in advance,
llau

Here's a screenshot attached of the IIS settings.
We changed the IP address to an internal one to the server, as before is was All assigned. We also changed the second website which also has a certificate to have a different IPaddress than this one, but it still didn't work. Going to https://newsite.com brings up a certificate for the other site.
