Editing the htaccess.txt file on a subdomain

Hello, I have a site on a subdomain and I am trying to edit the htaccess file so that I can use sh404sef. I have done it several times before on and have even done it on the htaccess file in my main domain. On the subdomain's htaccess file there is no 3rd Party SEF Section. This is my first time to use joomla 1.5 I have always used joomla 1.0 but I would assume that the htacess files both have this 3rd party SEF section.

Can anyone help me to figure out why this section is missing or is there another way to change this file so that I can use sh404sef with htacess?

If your site is a true subdomain, then you should just be able to copy the contents of your other .htaccess file, to the one within the subdomains folder. Don't forget to rename it to .htaccess, rather than htaccess.txt

What do you mean by true subdomain?

I mean by a subdomain.yourdomain.com that is expected by your webserver, and has a DNS record.
