If you want to enable SEO settings, review the following documents and set the SEO settings accordingly. You may have to type your site URL in the variable $live_site in the file configuration.php or use the .htaccess file.

If you're new to search engines, you will find that it is very easy to get bogged down in details. So, I recommend that you focus on fundamentals first, then expand your repertoire to include the more advanced tactics.

Consequently, if you were wise, you would focus on the following three areas:

(1) Be Human Friendly: Is your site easy to navigate? Is your navigation scheme intuitive? Do you use javascript powered menus without <noscript> tags for those users who choose to surf with javascript turned off? Do you have alt tags on your images for the benefit of those users who are sight impaired? Have you tried using your web site with a screen reader (like the kind used by those who are sight impaired)?

(2) Write Good Content: I cannot stress this enough. If you have good content, search rankings will come. Good content builds wholly organic links. It also builds user trust, which will result in more conversions and more repeat traffic. Remember, good content includes great titles!!!

(3) Become part of a community: Find blogs/forums in your topic area and become a regular contributor. It does not matter if the links are follow or nofollow, just get out there and get involved. Networking is a key skill that most guides to search engine optimization tend to ignore. Remember - if you get yourself involved in a community and start making friends, people will check out your site, link to it, and write about it. More buzz = higher SERPs!

Follow those three rules and you will build the foundations for a very successful search campaign!

Best of luck..

Greg

Don't forget to bookmark your web to high pagerank social bookmarks and communities. Facebook & Twitter have a huge role.
