Hi there, I hope this is the right forum to post this.

I have 2 different areas on a site. Each area has a separate menu, but links to the same articles (all the other pages are different)

menu 1 - link a - category blog articles a
menu 2 - link b - category blog articles b

these point to the same articles, but semantically, I need to keep the right menu (either 1 or 2 on the left) when someone clicks on an article.

The issue that I'm getting is that on menu 2, the article has an alias of menu 1 and not 2. It seems that Joomla SEF only picks up the first menu's alias and lists that as a link.

Has anyone come accross this issue before and found a solution? I've tried to search, but only found posts relating to removing duplicate links - I'm trying to add them.

Many thanks in advance!

I should add that
menu 1 - link a - category blog articles a
produces a link like - http://www.site.com/alias-menu1/article1
and menu 2 should produce
http://www.site.com/alias-menu2/article1
However, it doesn't - it displays, instead
http://www.site.com/alias-menu1/article1

That is correct the menu item type Alias url will be the the same url of the original menu item. That is the whole point of menu item type Alias to prevent multiple urls to the same target.

OK - thanks for the swift response!
However, is there a solution to being able to have the same category list appear in 2 different 'areas' of a site, but with keeping the relevant area menu?

Create the second menu item to the category blog and use the same settings. So long as both menu items are not on the top level of the menus(i.e each are child items) it should work.

Thanks web dongle for suggesting a possible solution

However creating them as child menu items proved unsuccessful.

Back to the drawing board! I guess I'll have to find another way of displaying the same category blog, but with different menu assignments...

Thinking of contacting the sh404SEF guys, see if their product can help out.
