SEO Friendly URLs setting broke the site

Post by tglass118 » Sat Oct 25, 2014 7:40 pm

I enabled SEO Friendly URLs in global settings and now the pages don't render properly - only the index page. How can I fix this? I tried reverting to the off setting and resaving, but that also didn't fix it. The site is http://newyork.cisvusa.org/.

you just changed back didn't you?
ah well....... you probably did not change htaccess.txt to .htaccess

if that is not the case, check the way your css is addressed in your template..
just before you did change I just could not connect to the css when in a subpage..

No. I didn't change htaccess.txt. But I did disable friendly URLs, cleaned the cache and purged expired cache. Back to normal now. But I would prefer SEO friendly URLs, but don't understand what I have to do to make it happen.

Also don't know how to address CSS issue.

if you do enable seo/sef rewriting (friendly URLS) you need to have mod_rewrite enabled in your apache (it usually is) and rename htaccess.txt in .htaccess (with the dot in front). htaccess.txt is in the root of your joomla install.

That usually does the trick..
