Hello,

My name is Thomas Blechschmidt and I am fairly new to Joomla. I live in the Omaha area and am interested in your group. What exactly does your group do? I thought I would share a few website with you that I created using Joomla.

If interested, I thought this group may like to create a similar group on MyOmahaSpace seeing as it is a local website dedicated to Omaha, Nebraska and surrounding areas. (the site is less than 1 week old)

Anyway, my purpose is not to promote anything, but just introduce myself. I am excited to see fellow Joomla users in my home town! I work abroad most of the year but will be in Omaha between April 16th and May16th.

Hey everyone, I am going to migrate all of my Joomla sites to a new server this month. Is there anything I should watch out for? Any pointers for a successful transfer? Thank you in advance.

I don't know how you are doing it. I recommend the Joomlapack component to back up and transfer sites.

Before you begin, make sure you have your new MYSQL DB info. Also, be prepared to have to tweak things. If you have any absolute urls in your site at all (i.e. http://www.oldsite.com/images/image.png) those will need to be revised.

Moving a site can be a real pain. Joomlapack does a pretty good job, but Murphy law is always lurking about :-)
