Hi Wil,

Since the symptoms you are (/ your moderator is) experiencing occur with FireFox, and since the sound like they may very well by javascript related, have you tried FireBug at all?  If you've not heard of it, it's an (essential, imo) add-on for FireFox with, amongst other things, a pretty hand js-debugging console.  The output from there on the affected machine might well prove enlightening.

The nightly build views successfully, so the problem must be specific to my installation, not a problem with joomlafck2.

That's not quite a valid inference, unfortunately...  It does indicate that the problem's not with FCKEditor itself though (at least not with the nightly build), which is good news I guess, as it means we're more likely to be able to fix it here.

For a while now I've been meaning to borrow a friend's Mac to do some testing with - I'll see if I can replicate the problem, and see what I can turn up.

Don't give up!  ;)

Thanks for reply Simon. I'm still battling on with this problem :-)

Since its been a while since my last post, there is a quick summary of my problem.

A Moderator using firefox on a mac is not seeing the intro editor or text boxes.

If i log in using their account i get full functionality.

I got the moderator to install firebug with the following errors shown.

Altho being a newbie at this, these errors give me hope, as now I can see what the offending code is. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is happening here. I think it might be something to do with preferences/javascript

Many thanks

Hi,

I have just installed Joomla FCK editor 2.4.4 on a Jomla site with version: 1.0.12

When I attempt to insert an image I am unable to. Instead of the server's image directory... ( Insert/Edit Image >> Image Properties >> Browse Server..) ... I get the following message:

"The Server didn't reply with a proper XML data. Please Check Your Configuration"

Could you advise what I need to do to get this functioning correctly please

TIA

Went back to to some editing and found that now in IE7, text cannot be edited from the back end, only the front. Actually, in the backend, its not even visible, which gave me quite a fright. As well in IE7 the bottom left of the browser now gives me an ! mark which wasn't there before I installed FCK

In firefox it is editable from both front and back.

So as a result of the above post I looked further and realized that it was not actually fck2 but fck1 version 2.4.4 I so, I uninstalled 2.4.4 and installed  bot_joomlafck2_109.zip

Now, I still no longer have my text in the back end with IE7 (but can access it vis the front end)... ( the exclamation mark - done, but with errors on page - remains for IE7)...

... whereas with firefox, now all I see is the title of the page and even fck2 is not accessible at all from the back end.

However when I attempt the front end a huge - almost full screen message box comes up with essentially a 500 error too much to type out and I can't C&P it.

What is happening? FCK works ok with memberspeed, but seems unhappy with Joomla, (at least with me.) Can anything be done to get it to work, and fix the errors on the page?

TIA

Having the need to improve our Joomla's editor choices over JCE, I'm happy to see FCKeditor and this active thread.  Running 1.09 with Joomla 1.0.13 (installed in a root/joomla directory) using FireFox 2.0 as the browser, I've run into a couple of issues and a feature request.

1) While the editor is instantiated fine on the back-end, it does not on the front-end.  I can see through FireBug that the
