tinyMCE save disabled
Whether from the mambo frontend or back if I try to edit (using tinyMCE) a content item that contains a table the save button no longer functions.
I can create and save items that contain tables. The problem only occurs when I'm editing. When editing if I delete the table from the content item the save button regains its function.
Any suggestions?

So it's the tables that are killing it!
Well, I'm having the same problem, but I don't have any answers for you.

Re: tinyMCE save disabled
There seem to be several other html elements that have the same effect. I've posted this question in half a dozen places, but no help yet. If I get an answer elsewhere I'll link to it here for you roberto and anyone else who might be looking in.

Re: tinyMCE save disabled
It would be great to get this issue worked out. I've postponed my transition to 4.5.1/4.5.2 based on this problem for several months now. Using htmlarea3-XTD on 4.5 1.0.9 is working, but I don't like it.
So if I could get tinyMCE to work I could switch this week and use all of the features of 4.5.x sooner instead of later.
Oh well.

Re: tinyMCE save disabled
Don't know if this will help.... But I had a similiar problem. It turned out to be me pasting some HTML code that TinyMCE did not like. Try creating a Static Content Item ----- then just type in some normal text -- Hit "Apply" (see the hourglass?) Yes? Then try the same thing but paste in whatever you were trying to paste before (see the hourglass?) No? Then do what I did --- trash TinyMCE and install TMEdit (it's free). It worked right away for me! And it has more features. That'll work for a while - until Ryan has his new Editor (which I am dying for) up and running.
The whole changeover took me all of 10 minutes (including "dumb-ass" not reading instructins time!)
Hope this helps!

I believe the code that is missing is
Code: Select all
<?php if ( $my->id ) initEditor(); ?>
Hope it helps You

Re: tinyMCE save disabled
Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think that's my issue. Although I created my own template, my index.php already includes that line.
Sounds like it's helping lots of others though, so thanks for the initial tip FrankZoid, and thanks for the heads-up Beuvema
Code: Select all
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<?php if ( $my->id ) initEditor(); ?>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; <?php echo _ISO; ?>" />
<?php mosShowHead(); ?>

Re: tinyMCE save disabled
If you cannot save in any HTML editor, your problem may be the way you access your Joomla admin panel. Try using the actual path versus "www.domainname/administrator" path. For example you may have your Joomla installed in some directory with the plan of getting an Add-on domain slot to host the site when its done.tvds wrote: Any word on this ?

IM me if you don't get what I mean.
Also look at MOSce as a potential replacement editor. It's the best I have found so far (of the free ones)

Re: tinyMCE save disabled
Well I finally got it.
It has nothing to do with Joomla, or with the editor.
It's the template.
A colleque of mine wrote it... and it was a load of crap.
Double , double
When I got the whole template right... it worked !
So if it doesn't work... just look at the template !

Re: tinyMCE save disabled
when i work with tinymice it says that certain features such as cut copy shortcut are disabled in Firefox , is it the same issue with you , if so try doing the same in IE
firefox may be preventing tinymice save feature due to some security conflict in js (may be )

Re: tinyMCE save disabled
I've been having terrible difficulties with several features of tinyMCE following the release of Joomla 1.5.12 (and that have not been corrected even with J! 1.5.15) but this one - the disabling of the tinyMCE's save function - has had me stumped for a long while until I discovered this discussion topic. I think I have some information that may help users looking for an explanation.
Although it's possible that features of tinyMCE fail because of the version of Joomla, or the specific Joomla template that's loaded, I am inclined to think that the problem lies in the browser ... or at least the implementation of Javascript that's supported by the browser. For example,
I asked myself the question: Surely the developers would have tested tinyMCE under Firefox; how could something so fundamental as the inability to save an article have gone unnoticed? I have determined that it's not Firefox per se that is at the centre of the issue. Instead it depends on which Firefox add-ons you may have installed and, in particular, whether you had installed an "IE-like theme" like me.
I disabled an uninstalled the IE theme that I was using and reverted to the basic Firefox theme. The save function would still not operate! However, I then cleared my cache, reloaded the page and, voilà, it worked!
I am not disputing that some people may continue to have problems with tinyMCE because of the Joomla template they are using. I would, however, suggest that you investigate the possibility that the problem lies within your browser.

In fact, this was precisely what I was experiencing: I could not save in Firefox but I could in IE. I had a similar issue when I upgraded from 1.5.7 to 1.5.15. Clearing the cookies and cache cleared the problem.
