Ryan, JCE looks great--thanks for all the hard work and time you've put into this!

I'm using a 'madeyourweb' template and discovered that when editing or entering new content from the front end, JCE does not appear in the main window. Instead, it ends up clear at the bottom of the page--I would have missed it if I hadn't scrolled down all the way.

Does anyone know how to fix this? mosCE and fck_editor both appear properly in the main window, but I believe this behavior appeared with TinyMCE as well.

Thanks!
kwc

Relative URL's are not working from the configuration interface. I checked "Yes" for Convert URL's but I'm still seeing the full URL on images, files, and internal links.

I went in mambots/editors/jce.php and edited lines 277-8 (changing the values from false to true):
relative_urls : true,
remove_script_host : true,

Which works but seems like the config should automatically set that.

Did you choose JCE as preferred WYSIWYG editor in the user settings? I had the same problem and this fixed it for me.

Yes Sure!!!!!
I also tried it in a root directory installation and there it works!!!!
Maybe its the Open SEF????

An other bug:

I used the advanced image manager, and inserted an popupimage!
And when i opened it in the frontend, it opened, but in the mainsite there was an error (404 not found)
URL: http://www.domain.at/javascript:void(0)

And i also have the css- problem: Black Background and black txt color.
If i insert the url to the css file, the background is white and also the color of the text!

I think that this editor is going to be the best joomla editor, but at the moment its not really stable.

You need to uninstall the mossef mambot, and instalol the hacked one found in the Extras category of the Downloads section of my site.

Not tested fully yet, but I've noticed there is no 'Format' dropdown alongside the 'Styles'/'Font Family'/'Fontsize'. What have I overlooked? I need my H1-6 :D

Thanks for this work around!
another "bug" that needs to be looked at
--> if you specify in the plugin that you only allow publishers to delete files (images) authors still will be able to do this. this could have some bad consequences. I liked DocMan for file management better but am not able to get the editor to display the toolbars properly. Toolbar 1-4 all display on the same line for me which makes the editor 4 times as wide.. I do like the userfriendlyness of an integrated filemanager! So hopefully we can resolve these issues make this an ABSOLUTE must have for any Joomla site

JCE is a huge boost to Joomla. Thank You Ryan!

I am conserning about some webstandards issues with the JCE. Here are just my few suggestions to make this even better.

The First one is Open Window (popups) behavior
"The right way to do Javascript popup windows" http://carcino.gen.nz/tech/web/popups.php
  • User can still select the links behavior: open in new tab, open in new window etc
  • User see the actual link and not just the javascript code that opens the link

The second is embedding the objects/flashs etc to page via streaming media plugin (thanks a lot for it)
As you may have read about the patent issue with IE, microsoft need to change the method activating such a objects.
There is MSDN article about this:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defau ... ctivex.asp
and
http://weblogs.asp.net/jgalloway/archiv ... 39483.aspx

BUT there is again a better and more XHTML/Webstandard way to do "embedding". The right way can found at deconcept.com:
http://blog.deconcept.com/flashobject/

By using Flashobject -method:
  • People still se alternative version if not rigth plugin is installed
  • Search engines likes more
  • [b]It solves the patent issue[b]

Added 4.3.2006:
The ultimate alternative "popup" for Images could also be LightBox, unobtrusive javascript way to show images in a "popup way"
http://www.huddletogether.com/projects/lightbox/
or
http://serennz.cool.ne.jp/sb/sp/lightbox/

Hands down the best editor I've seen.

I've got one problem that is probably my fault.

I'm using FF 1.5 and the window for the Imagemanager is too small for the form. Unfortuantely I don't see a FF opton to stretch or enlarge it. (see the attachment). .

Anyone have an idea how to solve this?

Thanks,

-jay

Just thought I'd weigh in here as well...

A highly anticipated and clearly successful project, Ryan! I don't think you're audience will ever be able to thank you enough!!! :D

Without this editor, Joomla becomes a much less useful application for my particular clients! Thank you so much for all your hardwork.

Any chance of the insert caption being included?

Even better if it was another tab in the Advanced image plugin!

I need it to be consistant with image/captions in my sites.

BTW Great work Ryan!!

With Joomla 1.0.8 and the editor bot 1.0.1 I foolishly removed buttons from the 3rd row of the editor. Saved...went to look at content...only the 4th row showing. Went back to try and drop something into the 3rd row but it kept refusing to acknowledge anything I dropped in there...reverting to a blank 3rd row every time.

Uninstall of bot didn't work. Had to uninstall component too. This was on Fiirefix 1.5.0.1 on a Mac if relevant.

That said...wow, fantastic editor!

Phil

I get something similar, running J! 108, JCE 101 and IE6 (on XP Pro SP2). I can't get anything on the third *or* fourth rows, having moved all my buttons initially to the first and second rows.

Supplementary question: Does the image manager plugin mean I no longer have to use the {mosimage} tag, and I get a preview of the text and graphics while I edit?

You're definitely right. I use MadeYourWeb template and it's centered, while is left centered with RhukSolarFlair2.
Thx!

For some reason, the MadeYourWeb template has the following statement in the "template.css" file:

Code:
body{
margin:0;
padding:0;
text-align: center;
font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif;
}

If you remove text-align: center; from the css file, text is aligned left in the editor.

In my installation which uses a modified MadeYourWeb template removing this line had no negative effect on the layout (at least I haven't seen one yet).

I make use of the 'misimage' tag...any idea how to add a button for it?
Also the pop-up window has word wrap unticked by default and I'd like it ticked permanently...any ideas?

Phil

Hmmm... maybe it's me but i still can't upload images in the imagemanager all using v1.0.1. I tried and installed MosCE (on 1.08 with fix) and it worked fine uploading/renaming/deleting images in the imagemanager. So weird ???.

I use Wamp (apache/mysql and php in one package) as localhost. I don't know how to check which CHMOD my folders are. Someone knows how to check it wihout setting up a ftp-client. Sorry, i'm a designer not a programmer.

Hi Ryan.

I see that you have released new versions of several of your packages to JCE today.

Is there any changes in the language files?
And are you planning to make a list of newly added translation strings?

I'm soon to be finished with the norwegian translation for JCE!
