There is any reason, why developers does not use it. If developers dont like it, probably it is for nothing there, like many others feautures.
Anyways how I read somewhere here, lite version of Joomla is in mind of community. I hope will be here soon.

My biggest need is to be able to put one article in more than one category.

I run an education site. One article or resource might belong in many exam courses, and also many exam boards. Currently, I have to either use a third party extension for multi-categories (which brings its own problems) or maintain many copies of the same article, which is highly unsatisfactory and problematic when changes are needed to an article.

Actually, a workaround for that is the "Tags" that we have since Joomla 3.1.

From what I have managed to work out with tags, you can't manipulate the order of the articles that share a tag. Compare: you have total control over the order of articles in a category appear in a list using the article manager. This is important for me when constructing a course from lots of articles as you need the easy articles before the harder ones, a logical progression, if you see what I mean, not based on title, number of matching tags, creation date etc.

Also:

- a simple way of adding a copyright message, logo or watermark to articles that are printed.
- when you click on Inage to insert an inage in an article, it remembers the last folder that was opened and opens to that folder, or at least gives you an option to.
- a way of changing one parameter for e.g. 15 selected articles, rather than having to do it one at a time.

Have you went to global configurations for Default List Limit?

Regarding adding a way to add copyright to an article when printed, add this code to your template .css file. Once it's saved, clear your browser cache and then view an article. Click print preview and check out the copyright tag at the bottom of the page. 8)

Code: Select all

@media print {
.item-page:after {content: "\00A9 Example.com";}
}

Thanks. It worked. It would still be great if 3.5 has something you can just add to the Settings e.g. a line of text, a logo or even better, a watermark.

Provide me a link to your site and let me know what css file it's in. This feature might get added someday, but it will probably be a long time. Might as well add it in now. ;)

Thanks - it did work. I kept looking at the bottom of the page, not where the text stopped. It has been a very long day transferring articles. Only another two weeks to go and I should be finished ....

I would like to ask ... How many features we need to make in Joomla 3.2 ... 3.5 for state as enough and someone can take care about urls and canonical's urls that are logical and friendly ?

I think friendly urls and canonical urls working well is much more necesarry than some features like ''tow factor authentication''

Btw. is someone here, who asked and need that authentication ? Who as user like these kind of thinks ? I hope we still building website for people :)

I agree with you on this one. SEF urls of blog items must also be fixed.

1-I think paid applications should be under one roof instead of individual websites.
Joomla should also charge the developers to host their applications. This will help developers so that they dont need to worry about maintenance of their apps.
It will be more secure since there is only one place.
It will also help Joomla's funding of the project

Joomla app store?

2- Simplified admin template? Usually people get confused with the default admin template. Maybe admin template for the non-tec-savy people?

3- Extension verification: I am not sure if is already implemented but sometimes when I install a new extension, it breaks the site. This is usually corrupted file. Is there a mechanism that check

4- Template wireframing via joomla admin :) Create a basic template using joomla admin template manager.

5- Image editor component: Resize not just html resize. optimise.

6- Advanced and simple installation
Ability to choose installation type.

If you choose the simple installation (this is pretty much what we have with j3 at the moment).

Advanced installation will ask you to create modules if you want to, menus and articles linked to these menus right from the start :)
Advanced installation will also let you queue the extensions that you want to install straight away.

For example, you can upload the extension packages in the installation progress and it will install them straight away. Time saver :)

7- Front end module editing: Thank you for including this feature on the new release. I think it can still be improved.
What happens now is that when you click the edit button, it redirects you to admin. If you havent logged in, then you will get confused as to why the admin page is showed up. It would be better to keep it all happening at the front.

More front-end management: Content Manager, User Manager, Module Manager - modules edit - of course with all the ACL features. We need a simple way for site users/owners to deal easily with site management in the front-end.

Thinking also that the Article Manager List could have also Date Modified column with ordering capabilities. Furthermore it would be nice if we could choose what columns we want to see in the list . e.g. a setting in the component's configuration.

Finally joomla should somehow eliminate the steps involved to create a single page. I don't have a problem with the current workflow but for new users can be proved overwhelming. So a single location to setup new pages and also choose what modules need to be shown would make it easier for the beginners.

An efficient way to override more the components e.g class extend, functions overrides...

The idea of Joomla Lite and Joomla Advanced installation sounds good.

And finally, I had an idea that Joomla would gain more users if somehow would be able to promote the platform somehow - in a similar fashion wordpress does with the online blogging platform. An very light online platform as blogging or simple site creator tool, might introduce more users to Joomla...

okay i wrote much on this topic...
merry christmas to all

What about filling the ALT tag dialog box with the image file name by default

I want:
- simplicity
- speed/performance
- updated last technology
- modern looking
- lightweight core Joomla (take out many not necessary code/component/plugins/templates ...)
- 100% sef/seo friendly
- one version of Joomla (no more LTS and STS versions)

Improve the Media Manager : Upload's processus : File already exist step : Display a dialog to enter a new name or auto-rename the file in order to finalize the upload.

Great if this option can be activated/deactivated in media manager configuration like for JCE editor.

WHY : I recently published a article on my smartphone (iphone6)
+1 for the mobile administrator template. It's great.
But when i wanted to add images, i was unable to uploaded them. It always failed with the message "image already exist". because my Iphone push always the same name for images :-(

I know JCE editor partially do it already but it's tedious to always use the small image button of JCE editor to upload my images rather the the big joomla one.
