A suggestion for the forum
Hello,
I don't know if am posting this in the right forum. But just wanna put forward this request.
Can we change the way LINKS behave in forum posting? At present, whenever someone clicks on a link in a thread, they are redirected to the link in the same window. It would be awesome when someone clicks on a link in a thread they are redirected to a new window instead. Of course, we can use the right click and then select Open in a New Tab but sometime we just forget to do that....
For example, in Virtuemart forum, the link behaviour that i am suggesting is being used..
Thanks

Doing right click is not that hard. i guess when we reply the thread it should redirect to the last post we comment and same as we received the link.. when we click the link to our email it should go down directly to the last comment.

You are right, it's not such a big deal to use the Right Click Button, but you see most people will love it.. I was just suggesting this..

Re: A suggestion for the forum
If a link is in a signature I suppose the poster will want the user to go to the link and have a look around, so that's good. If it's an example of a problem someone has then they will know to open a new tab or just go back when they are done. So I think it is OK at the moment. I believe in BBCode3 there is a way to use the _blank feature, but as I am new here I better no try it!

I would agree with emanipur. It is more convenient when links open in a new tab.

Re: A suggestion for the forum
the issue is that anyone can choose to open a link in a new window (methods vary depending on OS and browser) and this works however the links are set but you cannot choose to open a link in the same window if it is set to _blank or _new

I would guess that everyone here knows how to deal with links and make them open up where they want. It is a Joomla forum and we know what we are doing (I hope). Opening up in a new window would alienate people who browse this forum on a Kindle. Before you ask: yes I have

Couldn't agree more... while having to right click isn't much of a task, not having to at all is even better!emanipur wrote:You are right, it's not such a big deal to use the Right Click Button, but you see most people will love it.. I was just suggesting this..
Nothing more annoying than clicking a link expecting it to open in a new tab, only to have to remember to click back once viewing the website
