A banner about Nulled free scripts?

Hi, it is really bad for Joomla extension developers that their hard work is available on various sites known as nulled scripts repositories. Just google with your extension name. Developers work really hard to make great commercial extensions but do not receive what they actually deserve.

On the other hand this is worst for webmasters who download and install those nulled/hacked scripts. They put their whole website and company at risk by installing those untrusted scripts to save just a few dollars. Most probably they contain viruses which may do anything bad on your website.

Can http://extensions.joomla.org/ put a banner on the website mentioning the risks involved in installing those nulled scripts? I think there should be some kind of awareness campaign.

While it's true that downloading extensions from random sources is a risk, remember that GPL license gives the right for everyone to freely distribute software. Putting a commercial extension on a website for everyone to download is not against GPL. You can buy the extension from original author or even download the extension from one of those 3rd party sites and put it on your own site. You can even charge money for it.

As far as non-GPL extensions go, they're banned from JED. There's no need to warn people about extensions not listed on JED. That should be self-explanatory.

I doubt anyone having serious intentions with his website will go for any nulled script. If you already put money into your webservers, domain, you invest a lot of time into content preparation, market research, ....
why would you want to throw it all away over few dollars ?
