advertising

Post by brian » Thu May 13, 2010 10:45 am

In the terms and conditions it says "no advertising"

I know its still early days and people are excited about using the new site but there is already a lot of content that is little more than an advert.

For example a video whose description says "find more of these at www.domain.com" or a video that has the same in the content of the video itself.

Just wanting to ensure that the site doesnt become a free advertising opportunity

Yes, I agree with you. Hopefully the admins will settle in over the next few days and work on how to tackle this inevitable problem of spam and self promotion.

I think reporting the content, even now would be a good thing to do.

Nice to see so many people giving this site a workout.. far more than I ever expected.

I don't see these as spam but they are "potentialy" considered as adverts. I guess I just feel that the definition of "advertising" is clarified to avoid confusion

I agree.. the spam will probably take one or to days more to arrive. Ahh.. the joys of the internet.

Will leave this to the admins of this site to handle.

Any ideas on how to improve moderation tools are appreciated! Moderators have to manually browse videos right now and we are relying on the user reporting as well.

I've reported a few although the category "promotional videos" surely encourages people to post videos that are against the rules.

Should the promotional video category be removed? Sandra?

Its not just videos of course but groups and individual accounts as well that are being abused for spam/advertising

Sorry! I didnt find any button to "Report" any advertisement in Photos section. No button in Photo Album as well as in individual photos. How should I report it if found?
