Clarifying two items:
* Anyone who has never logged in
Would that go back to how many days? 2, 7, 30, 60 days?

* Anyone who has not logged in since Before January (eg last log in 28th December 2010)
If user has engaged in discussions in the community before the above date, will the user be removed or archived? What about his postings? Removed? Archived?

Thanks,

An initial sweep of the never logged in/visited would be one stage. The number of users who don't log in within hours of registering is minimal. It is unusual to register and then log in weeks later. 7 days seem to be a good time.

I am not sure how removing an inactive user will impact on the existing posts. We will test that

1- Answered. Agreed.

2- Testing would be good.

7 days might be a little short - I can understand that there actually exist people that don't log in more than 7 days after registering. BUT - if you set that period to 30 days, I think it would be a bit safer.

Regarding cutting off for inactivity - I think number of posts this person has made should also count. There could be any number of reasons why someone decide to take a break - go backpacking around the world for a year? So if it is a user with more than e.g. 25 posts, I don't think that user should be cut at all. Maybe it would be good to add an "away" message, so anyone that think about taking a break for an extended period can leave a message that admins will see.
