Migrating from 1.7.3 to 2.5 Beta 1

Hello, is this the correct place to report a bug updating a 1.7.3 test site to 2.5 Beta 1? If not, could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks

2.5 is included in the 1.6/1.7 series, though the best place is to report them in the Tracker at http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla ... er_id=8103

Well I could not figure how to post anything in the tracker so I will just say that I tried it using my test site 1.7.3 and could not update with the "one click" method thru the Extension manager install. Install will not load the pkg file at all. It says could not upload to server. That is the way I install most components, so I would expect it to work. And if you click Update it does not find any updates. I have mine on a server so it may be the "one click simple upgrade" is not intended for server installations. However if I upload using FTP or my Cpanel and extract it (the long traditional method) things work. I have also found that my 1.7 extensions install with no problems on the 2.5 test version.

An automatic update path has not been provided for beta1.
It will for the final release of 2.5.0 in a few hours.

Installing through the Extension->Manager-> Install may not work on some servers.
Happily is now provided a way to solve this issue.
One can FTP the pack in the traditional way, then click on the Database Tab in the Extension Manager and use the Fix button in the Toolbar.
