Hi. I've noticed that articles are linked together differently between Joomla 1.7, 2.5.3 and 2.5.4. Here is what each looks like:

1.7: <a href="index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;catid=24&amp;id=158">

2.5.3: <a href="index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=158">

2.5.4: <a href="index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=158&amp;catid=24">

The problem i have encountered is that when a link in clicked that is already on the page that the link is pointing to then, rather than refreshing the page, it directs the user to the home page.

In 1.7 this was not an issue as it DID refresh the page as it is supposed to. Can you please amend this bug or explain how i can fix it myself.

Thanks heaps.

There should be an Itemid=xx on the url, whitch is not present on any of the urls.

The Itemid is the id of the menu item.

Thanks for your response. So are you suggesting that i have not set up my menu/category/article hierarchy correctly? Would the url link look different under a properly set up hierarchy?

I have hundreds of articles that i've separated into different categories, but i dont understand how these relate to menu items. Is there any tutorial that you can suggest that lays out the basic structure of menu items/categories/articles?

Thanks again.

How do you access the articles if not through a menu item?

You can have a menu item to a single article or to a category (blog or list layout).

Currently i have a main menu which link to Single Articles. On these single articles i have links to the hundreds of articles within the individual categories. The category in which all the articles have been placed has no parent. Is this the correct set up? Or am i doing something wrong?

The links inside the article is they made manually? In that case you can add an Itemid to them.

Why do you not use a Category List Layout instead.
To have a text above the list, use the Category Description.

Unfortunately my setup is more complicated. I'm using articles anywhere. Each profile includes 10 - 20 articles displayed on the same page. Let call them sub articles.

In Joomla 1.7 when I insert an article link from the sub article to the profile article the link behaved perfectly and would link from any of the sub articles to the profile articles no problem and refresh the page whenever the link to the profile article was clicked (when the user was on that profile page).

However the code included in 2.5 for linking articles appears to be different and now. While the links work fine when the user is not on the profile page (the page the link is directing to), when the user IS on the page that the link is directing to, the link code changes and the user is directed home. :(

Is the System - Redirect Plugin enabled?

Try to turn it off.

Hi. Thanks for your suggestion. I had a look and found that the system re-direct plugin was enabled.

When i turned it off and tried out the link i was presented me with a white page (rather than being returned home).

But the same link works fine from other pages. Its only when the link appears on the page for itself (via Articles Anywhere) that it doesn't know where to go.

I don't understand it :(
