Menu and template issues after v2.5.3 to 2.5.4 upgrade

I'm not a developer so I'm not sure what exactly is the issue. I do think it has to do with the menu system though. I tried creating different type of items and all gave the same error. I also got the same error when trying to make a change to any of the existing menu items. I even tried removing and recreating the menu (which created fine) but when I try to add a menu item the same error again.

Save failed with the following error: MenusTableMenu: :_getNode Failed - 

The template was coded from scratch and it was working fine up until the upgrade. Now the page doesn't show at all unless I change to an different template.

The backend works fine except for some reason it re-installed Akeeba Backup and then threw an error similar to the menu items.

2 Issues it seems since the upgrade to v2.5.4. 1) get an error when trying to create new menu items and 2) somehow my template not working anymore.

Ok.. I figured that was the problem with the frontend not displaying. It seems the upgrade broke the menu that I was using - IceMegaMenu v1.7.1.

Going to see if they released an update for it.
