Hello All,

I think I have found a bug with version 2.5.4, could other people check if they have the same issue?
With a fresh install of joomla 2.5.4, if I set user registration to Self, an email is sent to the user for activation, and I (admin) get a notification about the new user. So I know that my email settings are fine.

However, if I set user registration to Admin, then suddenly neither the user receives an activation email, nor do I get a notification about this. If I go to the user manager, the newly registered person is there, albeit with two red symbols for Enabled/Activated.

The user account I am registering is @gmail.com, but I don't see why that should matter here, given that "Self" works perfectly.

Many thanks,

Marcus

OK I have had a look at the code where the registration happens, and it seems that the code to send the activation for "Self" or "Admin" is the same (file: components/com_users/models/registration.php), except for the text that is included in the email from language/en-GB.com_users.ini.
So I've tried replacing the text for "Admin" activation by the text for "Self" and now the email activation works for "Admin".
So either there is a problem with the text which creates an error, or my webhost cuts off the emails with some spam filters, recognising the text content. Does anyone else have the same problem?
