Hi all,

Just thought we'd share the link to DeedQuest, a Joomla-powered site for real estate investors.

http://www.deedquest.com

The site includes some custom code (a bridge to a Java-based legacy system) and a couple of custom components, but otherwise relies heavily on:

- JReviews (I can't recommend this component highly enough): used for real estate listings, market reviews, and resources
- Community Builder
- AEC
- JACL
- Fireboard
- GroupJive
- JomComment
- EasyFAQ
- RSForms
... plus numerous other bots and modules...

THANK YOU to the Joomla community and valued developers for making this possible!

This site has to be by far the best joomla implementation I've seen to date (no disrespect to anyone else). I was wondering if your calculation and analysis apps are custom, commercial, or free joomla components? Your site is well planned and aesthetically pleasing. I am very impressed with the layout and design. Thanks for sharing your work with this community. By the way, it would be nice to know what other component, modules, and bots you used for this site.

Many thanks for the kind words!

Unfortunately, the analyis tools were a legacy component (acually built in Java) that we integrated into the Joomla site. We built a custom Joomla component to act as both a bridge and wrapper. We then added some javascript to the JReviews templates (on which so much of the site is built: the market profiles, the property listings, etc...) so that we could pass the relevant information from a JReviews listing to the analysis tool.

So, to sum up: very custom and not transferable, as the analysis piece relies on having a tomcat server somewhere... :(

As for the other extensions, add-ons: I have gotten this question a lot, so I am planning to write up a "how I built this site" in the next few weeks. If/when I do, I'll post a link here. Honestly, I can't recall all of the ones I used -- there are so many -- and be forewarned: I tweaked the code of more than a few modules/bots to get them to behave (in terms of visual display) the way I wanted. This will inevitably pose problems upon upgrade, but as a UI designer by trade, I found it to be a necessary evil.

Send an email to info@deedquest.com if you would like to get a breakdown of the site (again -- if I can get to it, as I hope to do!)

Cheers, Amy

Simply amazing.. I have been searching all over for a UI design person and now I see you... kudos on the layout it looks sharp and is still very fast. I want to chat with you about some of the things you have done here - and if you would be open to another real estate related web prohject tied to joomla? I am desperate for a good visuals person and user interace/usability design person.

Great scott! that is an awesome site, well done indeed.

I was just searching around for the best addons to use for a realestate website as I'm sending off a quote for one today. I can only do xhtml and css though so your site would be way beyond my current skill set. I hope to one day be as pro as you, it's my new goal now. I suppose i need to learn javascript and php?

Anyway I look forward to reading more about it and congratulations on such an impressive achievement, you've done Joomla proud :)

I want to know what else you plan on doing to this site... Where/what are you using for the calculators/analysis tools... I think it is a fantastic start to a nice site if you can just get some more people posting and contributing.

Very nice design, I like the way the colors are mixed.

A "how I built this site" would be a good addition to the joomla community.

Great looking site. I am a wanna-be investor and have been looking for content and tools to build/revamp my own sites.
I have been looking over the different components to evaluate what would work best using Joomla, CB, and haven't found the right combination yet. I have taken a few on-line courses in RE investing and was going to go solo. I would like to collaborate with you on your work.
Thanks for posting your specs.

James Edwin

I am so impressed by this site. One of my real estate investor clients showed me this and I was speechless. The site has an intuitive structure and is engaging.

This is my first post and I will be back!

Your site is remarkable. Great colors and good layout. Really shows off the power of joomla in the hands of a good coder.

Just a little suggestion. in the top menu if you made the popup horizontal so that is neatlly fits into the horizontal bar which is below the menu(which already has 3 links on the left).

The only reason why i am giving this suggestion because I am trying to get a similiar menu and when I saw this site and the bar below the menu I "assumed" that this has the same menu but was dissappointed.
I am really bad at javascript so cannot get these menus working. Still searching and learning :-)

I really like your site. The layout is clean and easy to read. If you want to advertise properties then you can try openrealty component. I have used it on a number of sites and it works well.

I can agree that the site looks good, very good overall. Not much to change as for the site itself, just start marketing it already!

Ive been having trouble with 2 clients sites getting it to properly format on Mobile phones http://www.bostoncityproperties.com & http://www.downtownbostonapartments.com. For some reason too there are problems with viewing the sites on the AOL browser, however IE and Firefox are ok. Has anyone had problems with just AOL browsers but not others???
