Can I upgrade joomla 1.6 beta 6 to beta 7 ?

Can I upgrade joomla 1.6 beta 6 to beta 7 ?
İs it enough just upload the new beta 7 files?
please let me know.
By the way, what is the joomla 1.6 RC release date( I mean roughly)

If there are database changes, there should be a diff file in /installation/sql/mysql. Copying the new files should be enough, about the only thing you will miss are the changes in the sample sql file. Nothing is known about a release date.

I did not install sample sql file anyway.
I'd installed it without sample data option.

I know I am not suppose to use joomla 1.6 beta 6 at a production site
but I couldn't resist the idea!

I know that developer team really keeping hard working on Joomla 1.6 but if we can hear about Joomla 1.6 RC1 and about its releasing date, it would be better. Whatever I am afraid we have to wait for it without any news

Cool! I did upgrade my beta.6 live site to beta.7. here is the live site http://www.joomla16tr.net
I just uploaded all the beta.7 files top of beta.6 files.(excluded installation folder).

in administration system information page, I see this information now.

Joomla! Version: Joomla! 1.6.0 Beta7 [ Hope ] 9-Aug-2010 23:00 GMT

I did the same upgrading in my wamp localhost beta.6 website too.( without problems.)

so if you want to upgrade beta versions, all you have to do just upload new files to server.

remember my beta installations do not have sample data installed.

That's what I also do with my test installation, have just semi-automated it with an svn export and a copy command.

so if we are not using any sample data it is ok to just upload all the newest joomla files over the old ones minus the install folder? will this also take care of the "If there are database changes, there should be a diff file in /installation/sql/mysql." changes if there are any? and if we do have sample data installed but dont really care about it getting updated between betas/RC's can we do that too?
do you know about how far along its going to be before they start using the builtin autoupdater in 1.6 to upgrade through versions?

You can install the sample data, it just will not be changed (just like the default modules) if you just copy over the files. Any changes in the database will not automatically be installed, this has to be done manually. Quite a good chance that there will not be any more database changes though.

There are a couple open items on the tracker that make changes in the default installation and sample data database files, but in terms of database structure, there shouldn't be any changes.
