Articles and Modules not showing up

Articles and Modules not showing up

I am trying to help a friend out who has a Joomla 2.5 website.

None of the modules are showing up in the locations they are set for. Also the menus are not calling up the assigned article. I get a blank screen.

Is there some type of system output that I need to check?
What would disable the modules from not showing up?

A blank screen is the sign of a fatal error. Since the website is using a pretty old version of Joomla, then I would say the likely reason is that the website is hacked. In any case, try enabling error reporting in your configuration settings (set it to maximum), and see what error you get on that (blank screen) page.
