I have a site of some 3,500 pages. Is that too large to convert to Joomla? Are there issues with a site that size I should consider?

3,500 articles won't be a problem for Joomla.

But hypothetically 4,294,967,295 articles will be a problem because of the limit of article IDs, see:

These number is not a problem.

We manage joomla websites with more than 50.000 articles.
