"You are not permitted to use that link to directly access that page (#**)."

I'm getting this message basically wherever I click in the back-end. I have a copy of the same site on my localhost, in both joomla 2.5.4 and on the 2.5.5 version and get the error-message on both.

"You are not authorized to use this link for direct access to the side (# 29)"
This is the error-message, but the numbers change depending on what you are clicking on.

I have tried the "Global check-in" but it still don't work.

So you can log in to the back end, but can't click any links?

Exactly. I can click on anything but not the editable links, such as modules, articles, plugins etc..

  1. Make sure the database has been updated to reflect the changes from the update(s)
    1. Go to the Extensions=>Extension Manager->Database tab
    2. CLICK the Fix button (top right toolbar).
  2. Also , make sure that you clear the Joomla cache files.
    1. Go to Extensions=>Extension Manager->Updates tab
    2. CLICK Purge Cache
  3. Report back with the outcome.

The 2.5.5 site is probably just not going to work until you update to 2.5.6.

I'm experiencing this, and with a clean install of Joomla 2.5.6. So what has changed with Joomla that this is happening to many people. I have looked at a search and sure enough others are having this happen. Very very annoying.

Would love to hear what the issue is and if there will be a fix?

Cheers!

I´m experience the same annoying "You are not permitted to use that link to directly access that page" I think i did everything..
* check in global
* check in with each article
* modify _content table, (change to 0 )
* of course checked the superuser permissions
* create another user

and just did the database solution you gave here, but none of this worked.

For what i red should i assume this is a joomla 2.5 bug with no solution ?

regards. Andrea.
