I have just got a new laptop and my local tech shop copied all my files from my old hard drive to the laptop.
My test joomla sites would not open and showed an error.(Infinite loop detected in JError) so I created a new joomla 2.5.6 site in wamp called haley and that worked ok.

How do I get my old test sites to work?

Generally, one of the causes of the Infinite Loop error is due to database connectivity problem.

Check whether the database has been brought over. Also, check whether it is accessible through phpMyAdmin.

I faced a similar situation half a year ago.
I suppose you did a fresh install of wamp on the new machine. Now you should have two wamp folders. Go to the one, that was backed up from old laptop, open 'bin' 'mysql' 'mysql5.5.xx' and finally 'data'
You should see all old databases, just copy them to exactly same folder, but inside the new wamp folder.
