403 on frontend edit in Chrome

Post by gbrs2 » Tue Dec 04, 2012 1:41 am

Hello,

I have a multilingual site with J!2.5.8.

There is a problem with frontend editing in Google Chrome.

I login to the frontend.
Go to article I want to edit.
Click on edit symbol.
Editor comes up just fine and I am able to save or cancel.
Hit Save or Cancel and editor closes.
Hit edit symbol again and get this error: 403 - You are not permitted to use that link to directly access that page (#17).
I have to log out and back in again to be able to edit this artcle again. So the problem might be session-related.

This happens only in Chrome, not in Firefox. Haven't tested IE yet.

I thought this might be related to Unicode Aliases setting in global config because I use Thai aliases. But I changed the aliases to English and turned off Unicode Aliases setting in config and get same behaviour.

I found topics that might be related:
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p=2724639
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p ... 4#p2440174

But they give no solution so far.

Is anybody familiar with the problem or can reproduce it?

A solution would be great, too :-)

UPDATE
I installed the site on my local dev server and the problem disappeared. So it seems to be related to server settings or PHP versions.

I won't investigate further because frontpage editing basically works.

@jcalvert
It does not seem to be the same issue as listed in the bugtracker. I get 403 redirect and not "You are not permitted to use that link to directly access that page" message.

Also my problem occurs only in Chrome and IE.

But thanks anyway for taking your time.

Cheers

But you said you got the message. Now that's not happening? Maybe it did in a different browser you were testing?

If you are still getting sporadic 403 errors in Joomla 2.5 and 3.0, please see this:
