2.5 or 3.x | Upgrading many sites & migrating to new server

I'm upgrading several sites (dozens) and migrating them over to a new server. To minimize future upgrade hassles, should I upgrade to 2.5 because it's a long-term release or upgrade them all to 3.x?

None of the sites have any special components or add-ons that I'll need to worry about.

50% to 2.5 and 50% to 3.x

my personal opionion is for a production site to switch from LTS to LTS
