j25_templates_menu' doesn't exist

Hi,
I upgarded my Joomla version from 1.5 to 2.5.3 6-7 months back. Everything was working fine except last week.

When i click on any menu on website, www.learnmsexchange.com, it throws error:

JDatabaseMySQLi::query: 1054 - Unknown column 'section' in 'field list' SQL=SELECT section FROM j25_categories WHERE id =9

When i open Joomla Admin and click on any exiting Category or try to create a new Category, again one more error:

500 - An error has occurred.

JDatabaseMySQLi::query: 1146 - Table 'techpplsdb.j25_templates_menu' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT template FROM j25_templates_menu WHERE client_id = 0 AND menuid = 0


I checked from the PHP Admin, and there is no such table. Even my backup file doesnt consist this table.

Articles posted on my website are opening without any issues, but not Menus.

Seems some new upgrades from Joomla doesnt support Sections or something like that.. Not sure..

As mentioned above, I am not able to create a new Category also.

Pl help me in fixing this.

quite strange indeed

that column on that table simply not exists more on joomla 2.5

consider to backup your site first

and then

install on localost
upgrade to the last joomla versions
check on extensions manager - database
iF some warning or bugs are still reported fix it

test if all is working and ... you are done

Looks like you are trying to run the Joomla 1.5 code against a 2.5 database.

I upgraded from 1.5 to 2.5, dont know why the old DBs remained over there and not removed or upgarded.

Now, what do you suggest to resolve this compatibility issue?

If I install the latest Joomla version, and restore the images folders and .SQl database file, would it work?

Or is there any way to fix it on the existing joomla version by removing unsupported 1.5 components/tables etc?

I am not sure, any help would be appreciated.

The culprit is the template. If you view the failing pages with the beez5 template by adding "?template=beez5" to the url. There is most likely a non-functional override for the Category List Layout in that template.

The overrides are in the html folder of the template.

Can we fix this issue by following what this article mentions, that is, changing the directory path only?

I am facing issue related to the Categories, and template in use is JaPurity II, what should i do rectify this? I am novice in development, so using joomla, kindly provide more details in steps for the resolution.

You can delete the override and the core file will be used.

I get the same error when I try and edit or add any article from the backend of the site http://dbms.edu.in/.

I upgraded this site from Joomla 1.5 to 3.2 and after the error tried the latest upgrade 3.3 beta 2 but no resolution. I have used jUpgrade to upgrade.

Interestingly, on my local server where the url is localhost/jupgrade I can add and edit of articles from the backend.

Any clue why I can't on the main site?

I'm facing the same problem and like always, Joomla forum is filled with "vague" answers/solutions. I did not upgrade but used SP upgrade to import articles and categories only to my joomla 3.

Joomla Gurus please help!!
