404 error on EVERY Options button

My Intranet site has been working just fine unless 5 minutes ago.

When I click ANY Option button in any module, component, content editing page, menu manager etc. I get a 404 error - Component not found. I also can't get to the Global COnfiguration page any more.

The only thing I've done today apart from create content is install the Top of The Page plugin (which didn't work for me so I uninstalled it).

I have no idea where to start looking for the problem, so please could someone give me some pointers to where to start looking?

Maybe that plugin has messed up your website - it is not impossible but unlikely.

I would check the following:

- Any change with the hosting environment
- The .htaccess file
- Any malicious changes to the site

Can you post an example of one of these 404 links?

I think that plugin was the problem as the content/template changes I'd worked on through the day didn't break anything.

Last night I restored the previous day's Akeeba backup and everything is working fine again now...I just lost a day's work on the template and content - ce la vie!!!
