Issues Embedding Video

Post by bobtheheart » Mon May 30, 2016 8:40 pm

I'm having some issues embedding [youtube] videos into my articles. I've set the option to 'no filters' as well as made sure that the allowing iFrames option was enabled. Whenever I am in the editor and add the embed code for the [youtube] video into the source editor, after pressing save, it takes the code out and the changes don't take place. Each time I add the code to the code editor, I click save and it refreshes the page and deletes the code that I add. What can I do to fix this?

The easiest way is to use a plugin that forms that code for you. I use AllVideos (http://extensions.joomla.org/extension/allvideos) which is free and allows you to embed a [youtube] video using the following type of syntax:

{[youtube]}https://www.[youtube].com/watch?v=F2SXmzk8ve4{/[youtube]}
(remove the square brackets)
You may also use:

{[youtube]}F2SXmzk8ve4{/[youtube]}
(again, without the square brackets)

Hi there,

Welcome to the Forum, you also can try with one of this extensions:
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... ia/osembed
http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... /[youtube]

In the last link, remove the characters [ ] from the word [youtube].

Cheers.

Yeah, well there's no reason to use IFRAMEs.

Yes of course. Most of the WYSIWYG editors in Joomla strip out "disallowed" elements (e.g. IFRAME, EMBED and APPLET) but there's a fairly easy workaround.

Toggle your editor to use "raw text" (or change your user profile preference to use "no editor") and then you can embed the code in your HTML. Kind of messy, but it's one suggestion. The alternative is to use a third-party plugin as AlexVega suggested.
