Excessive CPU

In the last month my host has blocked my website 5 times due to the following files eating up all the CPU

Top Process %CPU 123 [php]
Top Process %CPU 118 /usr/bin/php /home/******/public_html/index.php
Top Process %CPU 117 /usr/bin/php /home/******/public_html/index.php

I have no idea how to sort this but it's losing me money repeatedly having them block the website because of the high cpu usage.

I updated all components I could to their latest version and I've enabled the cache in Joomla. I've been running on this server for several months with no problems no I'm getting this issue.

Any ideas what could be causing joomla to spike the cpu?

You'd better check:
* Access log files to see weird behavior that might indicate that your website has been hacked,
and the hackers are using your resources to: spam, ddos, generate bitcoins, etc...
* Joomla's debug mode to see all database queries

You could consider cloning your website (using Abeeba Backup) and install it on a local machine (in a local web environment like XAMPP) to test performance.

Or at another account at some other hosting provider (in case your local server has not been configured optimally)
