Front page links suddenly not working in beez_20 template

I've had a site up and running now for around six months, most things have been working well but I have suddenly encounter a problem in all versions of IE. I have set up some links to articles on the front page of the site, but as of Friday the pages will not load properly in IE, I've asked people to check on other versions of IE, but the pages will not load properly on any version of the browser. I seem to get some images and some text but then will get something like 'tem-448">'.

Any suggestions would be welcome as I have absolutely no idea at all. :-[

joomla 2.5 by the way.
