Very slow site

Post by stevehare » Fri Jun 28, 2013 12:39 pm

Can someone smarter than me please take a look at my site and let me know if you spot something causing my site to crawl...very slowly.

I've investigated and pretty much believe it's an issue with scripts or calls or whatever Joomla does to load the site, but obviously I'm not capable of fixing the issue.

It may cause hosting or template. Check how the band width speed is . If it's slow, consider changing to another one. If not, it might be your template. Moreover, you should remove unused modules or plug-ins.

Hey stevehare

Simply run your site thorugh http://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.ohiovar ... m/CEiLQlJK . It will tell you exactly where to focus

From my observation
>> Combine and minify CSS and Javascript using some extension (very important) I have used RockDock extension with their templates. Not sure it will work with your template but you can give a try.
>>Enable Gzip through htaccess
>>Avoid using small png images. Consider opting for fontawesome for social media and other common icons
>>Always optimize your images before uploading. Use RIOT

First two will significantly decrease your page size. Make them priority ;)
