Need Help Configuring SSL for Ubuntu Hosted Joomla

Post by Sigoox » Thu May 21, 2015 1:59 am

Thanks in advance everyone,

I am attempting to configure SSL on my Joomla server, Joomla is V2.5.14 and I have it running on Ubuntu v14.04.01 LTS.

I have installed the certificates locally in the SSL/Certs directory within Ubuntu, then followed numerous guides on modifying the htaccess.txt file and enabling forced SSL sign-on within Joomla but it doesn't seem to work. I get locked out of Joomla as it attempts to force all traffic through HTTPS and I've missed something resulting in the redirect failing and getting a 404 error.

I believe I'm missing a step but can't quite work out what. I tried rolling this out and found myself locked out of the admin console and frantically working out how to undo the forced SSL change within Joomla, I learnt about the configuration.php file and now I'm back at square one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
