Multilang issue

Post by Fintan » Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:57 am

Okay, I am having a problem here.
I have three languages: DE, ENG, ESP.

The DE & ENG languages work perfectly.
The spanish page shows but with no main menu.

Here is what I did:Language plugin & module already configured and active)
- Downloaded / installed spanish lang. pack.
- Created Esp content in extensions->languages
- Created Esp content with spanish as language and in the spanish content category
- Created spanish mainmenu category: MainMenu_Esp
- Created Esp menu items with spanish as language in the MainMenu_Esp category and set the spanish home to "home" and flag shows.
- Created spanish modules as needed and assigned them to the spanish menu items.
- Created a spanish duplicate of the default template, made it default for spanish (flag shows) and assigned the spanish main menu to that template.
- Assigned all spanish menu items to the spanish default template.

When I click on the spanish flag in the site the spanish home page shows but the main menu is missing:

What am I missing? I know it is something really stupid ;)

Can you post here a screen capture of the result of the Multilanguage Status administrator module?

Check if you have assigned the mainmenuES module to the correct position in the template style.

With this template one assigns the mainmenu within the template configuration panel (Extentions->templates). If none is assigned it defaults to mainmenu, so if this was working correctly it should at least show "Home".

I am stumped.

Solved your issue.
1. It seems that the template styles could not be saved on some browsers
2. Using Safari I could edit the style assigned to Spanish and set the menu to ON as it was set to off.
3. I have updated your language packs...
4. Your site has too many unused extensions. Get rid of all you don't use as it will be a source of future problems.

Thank you very much. I know there are a lot of extensions, I am trying out which ones fit the clients needs the best. It is after all a test site. Thanks for the pointer though.
Cheers
