Article's alias transliteration doesn't work

Post by sirbal » Wed Mar 23, 2011 5:42 pm

Article's alias automatic creation (by J1.6 core) works good only for Unicode aliases (UTF-8), instead of transliteration of cyrillic characters (like "7-pervoe-intervyu" ) alias automatically is set to date (like "32-2011-03-22-13-58-48").
Strange enough that 2 days before I had no such problem, everything was working fine; no changes in the php-code were performed.
Is there any solution of this problem (without SH404 etc.)?

Global Config:
Search Engine Friendly URLs - Yes
Use Apache mod_rewrite - Yes
Adds Suffix to URL - No
Unicode Aliases - No

If your language pack does not include the right function to change Cyrillic to ASCII, this is normal behavior.
1.6 default transliteration, although covering a larger scope than 1.5 (it includes now latin_2), does not include Cyrillic.

would give
2011-03-24-06-14-57

which a function like this one in xx-XX.localise.php (where xx-XX is the language used when editing)

Therefore, if you are using English as your default language, just add the function in en-GB.localise.php and save the file as UTF8 NO BOM.

Thank you for reply, it helped me found the solution :)
Cyrillic transliteration works only if Russian is default language not only for the front-end, but for admin panel as well.

As I suggested, just add the function in the other languages installed in your site will solve all.
